Anxiety, Uncertainty, and Human Existence: From Symptom Management to Creativity

Anxiety, defined as fear of the unknown, is a fundamental aspect of human existence. It emerges from and is woven into the fabric of what makes us self-conscious beings. Although its symptoms can be ameliorated or even subdued temporarily, anxiety will remain as a part of our orientation toward possibilities. Such possibilities can potentially overwhelm and cripple us, or they can offer us solutions to our existing problems through innovative means.  In this talk, we will explore the many dimensions of anxiety and how a sense of identity and meaning play a critical role in transforming it into a source of creativity, which can ultimately contribute to the betterment of humanity.  

Dr. Micah Sadigh is Professor of Psychology at Cedar Crest College. He is a graduate of Moravian College and Lehigh University. He is a Diplomate in Franklian Psychology and Existential Analysis. Dr. Sadigh is also a Fellow of the International College of Psychosomatic Medicine.  Dr. Sadigh was the recipient of the Cedar Crest College Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching in 2009. He is the author of five books, including an internationally recognized book on the treatment of chronic pain and stress-related disorders.

The Nose Knows: Importance of the Nasal Airway

Presented by Dr. Dennis R. Bailey, DDS, FAAOP, D-ABDSM 

In our 3rd Webinar, Dr. Bailey brought us an insightful look at "The Nose", and provided, once again, his insightful clinical knowledge. 

Dr. Bailey is a general dentist with a practice limited to the management of Sleep Related Breathing Disorders (Snoring and Sleep Apnea) utilizing oral appliances as well as Temporomandibular Disorders, Orofacial Pain and related headaches.  He is a graduate of Indiana University School of Dentistry and completed a General Practice Residency at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.  He is a past president of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (1998-1999), is the founder and past-chair of the Oral Appliance Section and served on the Standards of Practice Committee for the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

The Phonetic Bite Technique

Presented by Dr. David Rawson, DDS, D.ACSDD, D.ABCP, FAACP, FICD

One of the challenges in treating patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is selecting and titrating an appropriate Dental Sleep Appliance. The Phonetic Bite Technique gives you an excellent start to get the greatest reduction in AHI. You will learn how you can routinely reduce AHI by ~75% in ALL CASES, including SEVERE  (AHI = 30 +) ! 

Dr. Rawson is a 1974 graduate of Dentistry from the University of Western Ontario.  He opened a general practice in London in 1979 and soon developed a keen interest in chronic head and neck pain, temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD), orthodontics and sleep disordered breathing including snoring and sleep apnea.  In 2003, Dr. Rawson opened the TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre of London, Ontario.  The Centre is solely dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions.

He is the founder of O2&U, which is a dental sleep medicine company based in Melbourne, Australia. He has taught seminars both hands-on and lecture all over North America and Asia in cosmetic, implant and dental sleep medicine. He has been published in many peer reviewed journals such as AACD’s JCD, including cover, as well as AGD’s General Dentistry, AADSM’s JDSM and even Aegis Inside Dentistry, DSP, Dental Economics, and Dentistry Today.

In 2019, Dr Hu made the list of most recognized lecturers in dentistry for Dentistry Today. During her career, she has received numerous awards, has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on Sleep Medicine and Sleep Surgery and has spoken on national and international platforms about Drug Induced Sleep Endoscopy. She is now the Director of the Sleep Endoscopy Centre for Snoring and Sleep Apnea here in Canada.
